New equipment and new competencies in our in-house test center

Corp news

In addition to purchasing new equipment, we have hired Sonny Wolf-Jølver as an auto technician with responsibility for the operation of our in-house test center. The new equipment includes, among other things: PicoScope, 3D printer and 3D scanner.

With the appointment of Sonny Wolf-Jølver, the test centre will have a technically strong profile with solid experience and interest in quality assurance and troubleshooting. Sonny Wolf-Jølver was originally trained – and has worked for many years – as an auto mechanic, and will have overall responsibility for:

  • Operation and development of our test center
  • Perform checks, tests, and troubleshooting
  • Quality assurance work in connection with the selection of suppliers
  • Complaint handling
  • Technical training

In addition to a newly purchased PicoScope, we have expanded the test center's list of equipment with a 3D printer and a 3D scanner.

PicoScope
A PicoScope is a digital oscilloscope that is used via a PC as a powerful diagnostic tool to measure, record and analyze electrical signals. A PicoScope is thus a great tool used to troubleshoot electronic circuits, decode serial data, and perform complex analyses.

In our ABS testers in particular, we often need special brackets to attach the ABS sensors. In cases where we already have the necessary special fittings, we can now manufacture it ourselves. In addition, the 3D printer is used to manufacture necessary parts for use in test setups.

Most recently, a base plate has been produced for mounting electrical control units used in testing DPF sensors. This type of sensor is a differential pressure gauge that measures the pressure before and after the particulate filter in the exhaust system of primarily diesel, but also certain new types of gasoline engines

3D scanner
A 3D scanner is an optical, non-contact measuring device that captures the physical shape and surface details of physical objects. By projecting light or lasers – and recording their reflections – it creates precise digital 3D models. A 3D scanner replaces manual measurement of complex geometries. We will use our 3D scanner to compare complex geometries between Triscan and OE parts and there will be an article as the 3D scanner in the next issue of Triscan News.
